PP Steve Barilla Steve asked for volunteers for car parking duties for Gawler show. We need about 16 people
After dinner, Chair Wayne Murphy   introduced Barry for his sergeants sessions who then conducted the wheel spin with the winning numbers going to Mark Forgie, Patsy Johnson and Lance Hatcher.
Barry then presented his Bunyip roundup and Facebook funnies before giving an account of some of his most recent and interesting jobs
Wayne then invited President John Lyons to come forward and induct Gayle Joyce into Rotary. John said he was privileged to induct Gayle as his first new member since being elected. Gayle was presented with her certificate, pin and Gawler Rotary cap and responded that she was looking forward to being an active member. As her nominee Beth Hudman spoke about the qualities that Gayle brings. Besides being a business owner in the town she has an extensive list of community involvement including assisting youth and homeless people in Gawler and surrounds.
Due to the absence of a guest speaker, John was asked to talk about an interesting case he has been involved in. John gave an account of a ‘hate crime’ from about 1985 which the coroner found his cause of death to be that of misadventure and remain unsolved for 11 years before one of the culprits bragged about it to his sister who was so shocked, she reported it to police. They were then arrested and admitted their part. When they case came up the only evidence that could be presented was that which was delivered by the coroner previously. This was found to be inaccurate, and the jury saw straight through it, so they were found guilty and convicted.

John then took questions from members and guests before closing meeting 3170 with the Four Way Test.
