Welcome to our monthly bulletin

Welcome to this months wrap up

First of all apologies for the delay in sending this out. It has been due to a number of factors but we should be back on track after this one. Once again our club has been super busy with events. The biggest was of course the annual Village Fair. The weather was very kind to us this year and the people came out in force. Of course, we couldn’t run the fair without lots of help and participation from the community. The feedback from vendors was positive with only 2 constructive suggestions for improvement for next year.

The public liked the food vans for the range of food as well as positive comments about the children’s entertainment. Planning is already underway for next year.

Unfortunately, this past few weeks Almoner Mike has had to share news of illness among members and the recent passing of long-time member and past president Bob Ahrens. Our thoughts certainly go out to his family.

We have had a range of guest speakers including Rotarians Andrew De Garis from the Rotary Club of West lakes speaking about End Polio Now International; PDG Marie Dorrington speaking about Interplast Program. Bethany Smeaton, daughter in law of PP Mark, spoke about the changing role of Vet nurses and her journey from Vet as a Vet nurse which has come full circle.

Committees have been busy setting their goals for the rest of the Rotary year and assisting at various community events.

The Christmas party this year is breaking from tradition and having a picnic in the park (fingers crossed for nice weather!) See flyer attached in this bulletin -It is on Monday 15th December and booking close on the 8th to assist with catering.

We will once again be supporting the Salvation Army Christmas gift appeal. Please ensure your unwrapped gift is brought to the club on the 8th December so they can be delivered to the Salvation Army in time.

No PP Mike is not injured he's checking out the mobility scooter that has been returned to the shed to make sure it is in good order for the next time it's needed.

Great Coverage once again from the Bulletin.

Vale the late Bob Ahrens -Long time member and past president of Gawler Rotary Club.
