PP Barry Stewart introduced the chair for the evening- Pres John who welcomed members and special guests DG Craig Dowling and Andrew Eastick, Cindy Johnstone guests of Dr Bruce, before asking Members who wished to have a Rotary Spot to come forward.

- Recent passing of treasurer Tony Randall and Peter Parker Immediate Pat President of Rotary Club Barossa.
- Julie Smeaton’s Mother passed away today. Condolences to Julie, Mark, and their family.
- Organisation still on track for Village fair.
- Could his committee meet briefly after tonight’s meeting.

- Need a couple of volunteers to assist at the gate for the Gawler Gold cup. Thanks Kathy, John, Anthea, and Brian.
- Thanks Ian and Colin for getting rid of scrap metal from around the shed.
- Usual coffee catch- up tomorrow -it will be nice to see more faces.

- Would like as many people as possible to join him for a photo outside the Council Chambers lit up in recognition of World Polio Day on 24th October.
After dinner John welcomed Barry to present his sergeants session.
The wheel spin winners were Michael, Kim, and Angela.
After leading members in singing Happy Birthday to Dr Bruce, Angela and Ian S, Barry then presented the Bunyip Roundup and Facebook funnies.
DG Craig Dowling was then invited to deliver his presentation.
Craig opened by apologising on Kiki’s behalf for her absence. Kiki is a Nurse in the Riverland and unfortunately had to work tonight.
- Craig briefly discussed membership and pointed out he believed it was a club matter. Members join a particular club; they do not join to be a member of Rotary International. They may join because they know someone or have seen us in the community.
- Each club knows its challenges and it is up to us how we deal with that challenge.
- District resources are readily available to clubs to assist.
- Fellowship is important- members need to feel welcome.
- Membership is an enabler- more members mean we can do more projects.
- Don’t be distracted by numbers though- having lots of members who do not assist in projects is not helpful.

- International Service Rotary can’t exist without clubs. we are supported by our brand- the Rotary Wheel. International gives us opportunities to do wider things. Acknowledge we are Global and do a little bit more- if we usually donate $200 donate $250. If we do one local project, try, and do two.
- Diversity, Equality, and inclusion- second line of the Four Way Test is “Is it fair to all concerned?”
- Zone 8 campaign to end Domestic Violence
In Zone 8 there are:
20 District Governors
Sixteen countries
1300 Rotary Clubs
32000 Rotarians
Together we say no to Domestic Violence.
What can Clubs Do?
On the 24th of November Say No! There will be rally in Adelaide Make your club part of the campaign- you can join in the walk but get the message out there, put the logo onto everything. Be synonymous with the message.

In the Northern NSW town of Ballina 100 businesses have all customer facing staff wear a T Shirt with the message on. They have committed to do this for the year.
- District Governor Partner Project- Aboriginal Chronic Disease Prevention Project.
The project will fund two Aboriginal PhD scholars over 3.5 years to undertake research to establish a capability development program that supports the upskilling of an Aboriginal Health care workforce in chronic disease prevention. Kiki is asking for clubs to commit $500 to the project.
Craig hopes to see as many members as possible at the District Conference which will be held in Loxton from the 17th of March. Details and booking are on the website.
After a Q&A opportunity Craig was presented with his certificate acknowledging a donation on his behalf to Vaccinate 45 against Polio before President John thanked Craig for an informative presentation and Bruce’s family for joining for the evening.
Pres John then closed meeting 3180 with the four-way test.
