After the formalities Sergeant Barry introduced the chair for the evening- Mark Forgie. Mark welcomed members and guest of Beth, Gayle Joyce and acknowledged the apologies before calling on Rotarians who wished to address the meeting.
Almoner pp Mike Willimas Trish Williams Funeral will be held in the Florie Chapel, Centennial Park at 12:45.
UPDATE: Maggie Murphy has undergone a hip replacement, is home and in a lot less pain.
Kathy Heinrich- whoopsie sorry the Barilla’s have the eftpos machine and it is on it’s way from Adelaide.
Beth Hudman addressed the meeting to share information about the ‘Share the Dignity initiative’. Beth said she had been contributing to this with her friend for several years but is asking Rotarians to get behind this as well. The bags are assembled and delivered to Bunnings for distribution to various South Australian Charities for homeless women in November each year. This initiative supports Pres John’s commitment to helping the homeless in the area.- see flyer.
Pres John- led a discussion about members paying for meals when they had to cancel at the last minute when it was circumstances beyond their control.
Sergeant Barry conducted the wheel spin with Mark F spinning the winning numbers. Barry then presented his usual Bunyip roundup and Facebook funnies session after announcing birthdays.
Chair Mark F then introduced our speaker for the evening PP Mark S to talk about his recent trip to Darwin.
PP Mark Smeaton and fellow Rotarian Ian Nys with together with their wives set off on a fabulous road trip to the top end. Mark presented pictures and an entertaining account of the trip with some interesting statistics:
Over the 16 days away:
- They visited 16 destinations- Flinders Ranges, Cooper Pedy, Uluru, Kings Canyon, Tennant Creek, Katherine, Daly Waters, Mataranka, Jabiru-Arnhem Land, Kakadu National Park, Darwin-Litchfield, Crab claw, Goat Island, Adelaide
- Travelled 5630 km.
- Used 600Litres of Diesel.
- Consumed 160 litres of alcohol
- Made countless memories and had a million laughs.
Mark then took questions from members.
Mark Forgie thanked PP Mark before handing back to Pres. John to close the evening.
