PP Barry then introduced the chair for the evening- PP Lance Hatcher who welcomed members before asking Members who wished to have a Rotary Spot to come forward.
PP Mark Smeaton
- Ian Nys is still in intensive care. The doctors have informed him and his family that they can only keep him comfortable now. Please keep both Ian and Michele in your thoughts.
- UPDATE it was with huge sadness that PP Mark informed members that Ian had passed away on Wednesday evening surrounded by his family. Ian’s passing will leave a big hole in our club, not only because of his positive attitude but Ian never shied away from volunteering at almost every event assisting Ron with quartermaster role sorting out the shed and looking after the equipment.
Almoner PP Mike Williams
- Geoff Benier will be back. He has been on a cruise and unfortunately got sick along with members of his family.
Deb Williams
- Mike and Deb participated in the Rotary march against Domestic Violence in Adelaide on Sunday. It was particularly poignant for them as their daughter’s friend Jodie was sadly murdered by her husband in the week prior. Jodie’s family asked that Deb carry a photo of her through the march which she did. This caught the attention of the media and deb appeared on several TV channels and the Radio speaking about it.
Angela Moore
- Reminder that TWPS are requesting help from the club to organise and run a catering stall on the 12th December for their twilight fair and concert. Members showed their support and Angela will get names next week. Food required Hotdogs and Fairy Floss and a sausage sizzle. Also requested a volunteer to oversee as she will be involved at school. Thanks Steve!
PP Steve Barilla
- APEX carols -Need people to erect shelters in the afternoon and them volunteers to cook and serve for the BBQ in the evening. Steve collected names but if you can help and didn’t let him know please see Steve, extra help will be appreciated.
Pres John Lyons
- Will be participating in the parade on Saturday evening more people welcome to get us out in the community also assist Gawler Light with their BBQ . Deb and Mike indicated they will be there.
After dinner Lance welcomed Barry to present his sergeants session.
The wheel spin winners were Lance, Bob Hinderwell (who gave a very amusing acceptance speech!) and pp Kathy Heinrich.
After discovering it was Colin Bazeley’s birthday Mike W rang him on speaker so we could all sing Happy Birthday!

Lance declared all positions vacant except John who will take the spot of IPP. Anthony Barilla is president elect so will assume role of president for 24/25. Kim Potger accepted the nomination for Treasurer once again and Mike Jacobs will also be secretary. Well done to both. The other board members nominated and accepted for the positions are Kathy Heinrich, Mark Smeaton, Steve Barilla, Kyle Smith, Angela Moore and Margaret Leversedge and Beth Hudman will once again share a role on the board. Mike Williams queried why all members were up for re-election. In the past it was a rolling tenure, so everyone had a 2-year term but half were due for election each year. This made sure we maintained stability and not potentially having a whole new board at the same time
Lance called for nominations for the roll of President elect 24/25. Brian nominated Shawn Lock who accepted on the proviso he is given lots of training during this year.
Mike Williams queried why all members were up for re-election. In the past it was a rolling tenure, so everyone had a 2-year term but half were due for election each year. This made sure we maintained stability and not potentially having a whole new board at the same time.
President John then thanked Lance for conducting a very efficient AGM and members for attending before closing meeting 3185 with the Four Way Test.
